Body & Cellulite
Skin tightening, contour, and texture concerns below the face.

What changes below
the face, and why
The words vary: dimpling on the thighs that never used to bother them, skin on the arms or abdomen that has loosened after weight loss or pregnancy, knees that look crepey, or marks that haven't faded. Each has its own cause and its own approach, and your assessment sorts out which is which.

Cellulite
i
Cellulite
Beneath the skin, fat sits in small lobules held in place by fibrous bands that anchor to the skin above. In women these bands tend to run straight up to the surface, so fat pushes up between them and the skin dimples where they pull down. Hormones, genes, thinner skin with age and weight all affect how visible it is.
What we can offer: LPG Endermologie, kept up session by session for how thigh and hip skin looks and feels.

Loosened skin on the arms, abdomen and knees
ii
Loosened skin on the arms, abdomen and knees
Skin that has been stretched, by weight gain and loss, by pregnancy or simply with age, can lose the elasticity to recoil, and it shows most on the inner arms, the abdomen, above the knees and the inner thighs. Milder looseness can respond well to treatment without surgery.
What we can offer: Endolift® Body, and Biostimulators, where the skin needs its support rebuilt from beneath.
iii
Stretch marks
iii
Stretch marks
Stretch marks form when skin is stretched faster than it can adapt, in pregnancy, growth or weight change. They usually fade over time from red or purple to pale, and treatment can soften their texture further.
What we can offer: Microneedling, to soften their texture.
iv
Crepey skin
iv
Crepey skin
Fine, papery creasing above the knees, on the arms or across the abdomen comes from the skin itself: thinner, with less collagen, and often sun-damaged where it has been exposed. It is assessed as a skin-quality change rather than as looseness.
What we can offer: Polynucleotides, injected into thinned skin on the abdomen, arms or thighs.

Swelling and fluid

Swelling and fluid
Legs and ankles that swell, or limbs that feel heavy and tight, are not cellulite. Lymphoedema and lipoedema are medical conditions with specialist care of their own, and your medical history covers any swelling before a plan is agreed.
What we can offer: body treatment planned to sit alongside your specialist's care.
Body treatments at ART Clinic,
and what to expect of each
We offer two main treatments below the face, each for a different change, and you'll know exactly what either involves before you begin. Your assessment matches the change you've noticed to the treatment designed for it.
LPG Endermologie
Ongoing care for body skin, in hour-long sessions
The Cellu M6 Infinity lifts the skin into a gentle fold and works it with motorised rollers, one area at a time, in sessions most people find relaxing. There is nothing to recover from, so a session fits easily into a working day. People keep it up as ongoing care for thigh, hip and abdominal skin, and before a course begins your nurse explains how it runs and what to expect.
Endolift® Body
For milder looseness on the arms, abdomen and knees
Endolift® Body uses the same laser as Endolift® on the face, delivered under the skin by a slender laser fibre, and is designed to tighten loosened skin from within. Local anaesthetic goes in first, so most people feel little more than pressure and warmth. It suits milder looseness, firming the skin you already have. You can go back to your plans the same day; expect a little swelling where the anaesthetic was given. At ART Clinic it is a doctor's procedure, carried out to the protocol Dr Priya teaches.
Sometimes part of the plan
Biostimulators
One biostimulator is also given on the body: poly-L-lactic acid placed beneath loosened skin on the arms, abdomen or thighs, designed to prompt new collagen and rebuild support gradually over months. Biostimulators for the body
Polynucleotides
Where the skin itself has thinned and turned crepey, a course of polynucleotide injections into the abdomen, inner arms or thighs is designed to help it repair. Polynucleotides for body skin
Questions about
the body
My skin is loose after weight loss. What can help?
For milder looseness on the arms, abdomen or knees, Endolift® Body is designed to tighten the skin from beneath, usually in a single treatment. Where the skin has lost support too, a biostimulator can rebuild it gradually. Your practitioner looks at how much looseness there is, and where, and plans around it.
Can you help with stretch marks?
Stretch marks usually fade with time, and treatment can soften their texture further.
What's a sensible first step?
A consultation. It is where you find out which of these changes you have and what can be done for each, and then decide in your own time.
How many LPG sessions does it take?
Sessions usually start close together and space out once the first weeks are done, and body programmes are booked one session at a time. It is something people keep up over time rather than finish. Endolift® Body is usually a single treatment.
Is there downtime?
After LPG, none: the rest of your day is your own. Endolift® Body lets you get back to your day as well, with some minor swelling in the treated area from the local anaesthetic.
Is this only for women?
No. Loose skin after weight loss, and on the abdomen and arms, is as common a concern for men. Cellulite is much less common in men, because the fibrous bands in men's skin are arranged differently and hold the fat more firmly.
For men
Is body treatment suitable for me?
LPG and Endolift® Body both suit adults in good general health. Sessions wait while an infection or rash on the area clears, Endolift® Body waits until after pregnancy, and your medical history covers everything else, blood thinners included, so the plan allows for it.
What are the risks?
With LPG they are minor: at most a little light bruising in skin that bruises easily. After Endolift® Body, minor swelling from the anaesthetic and perhaps a little bruising are usual and short-lived, and other effects are uncommon. Your practitioner goes through them with you before you consent.
Is swelling in the legs the same as cellulite?
No, and the two are worth telling apart. A leg that has swollen suddenly or on one side only, or feels hot or red, should be seen by your GP or NHS 111 first, and lymphoedema and lipoedema have their own specialist care.
What do body treatments cost?
LPG body sessions are £250 each, and Endolift® Body starts at £3,000. Biostimulator treatment for the body, with Sculptra, is £1,300 a session, and polynucleotides for the abdomen, inner arms or thighs start at £600 an area, or £1,500 for a course of three. The fee is agreed at your consultation, once the plan is clear, and there are no offers or deadlines.
PricesBody treatment that
starts with your health
Body treatment works best when you know from the start what each treatment is for and what a course involves. Every plan here begins with an assessment and a medical history, so the treatment fits your health as well as the change you'd like, and so anything like swelling is understood before a session is booked.
